SkinScience was founded on the principle that before you can substantially improve the appearance of your skin through topical cosmeceuticals and professional services, you must first understand the underlying causes of your skin's condition. If you do not understand the underlying structure and function of your skin, you will be guessing about what to apply to your skin and how to manage your skin properly for substantial improvement.

SkinScience combines the disciplines of high resolution digital imaging both in visible light and color ultraviolet light and the uses state-of-the-art biometric measurements of your skin to understand several key functions of your skin including:

• stratum corneum hydration (the moisture in the top layer of your skin)
• oil production in your skin
• barrier function of your skin (the ability of your skin to keep moisture and nutrients in and toxins out)
• strength of the collagen and elastin in your skin (tells us the rate at which your skin wrinkles and fine lines appear)
• pH of your skin which gives us indications of the effectiveness of your current skin care regimen and the potential of your skin to build up a bacterial presence.
• Visible imaging gives us important information regarding tone & texture, fines lines and wrinkles, pore size, and overall aesthetics.
• Ultra-violet reflectance photography gives us information regarding the bacterial presence on your skin, causes of hyper-pigmentation and other key underlying structure information.

The process of obtaining and analyzing these factors by a Certified SkinScience Analyst (CSA) is called a "SkinScience Analysis." It takes about 30 minutes and is completely comfortable and non-invasive. You will learn more about your skin in the SkinScience process than you have ever known before and the CSA will then be able to talk to you about the proper way to improve your skin's health and appearance.
