Frequently Asked Questions

How is SkinScience different from any other skincare spa?

SkinScience is an all-new spa that's unlike anything you've ever experienced — the first-ever facility that's been designed around understanding your skins needs first. Through our unique "SkinBio" analysis, we customize your treatments and product regimens specifically for your individual skin.

How is the SkinScience process different from any other currently popular skin treatment?

With SkinScience, you'll receive a complete SkinBio of your skin using exclusive technology from our staff of Certified SkinScience Analysts. The information in your SkinBio is used to develop your personal skincare strategy — a strategy that combines signature cosmeceutical products with in-spa services to yield the best possible result for your skin.

Why are your SkinScience products superior to store-bought skincare products?

Everyone's skin is unique due to genetics, environment and internal factors. One product cannot fit all people and provide for the specific needs of any one particular individual. As a result of the SkinScience process, your home care products are targeted to the specific needs of your skin. Because we decipher the specific structure and function of your skin, your products will be personalized to meet your goals and optimize your tone, texture, tightness, and more.

What exactly is a "SkinScience SkinBio?"

Founder Krista Dibsie defines her creation as

  1. a unique process by which skin's structure and function are scientifically measured;
  2. personally chosen products and treatments for your skin, based on SkinBiometric test results; and UV imaging
  3. skincare redefined

What kind of factors determine my SkinScience SkinBio?

Your personal profile factors consist of such variables as pH, barrier function, sebum levels, hydration, elasticity and pigmentation; along with your particular goals and concerns, as well as other information obtained from your personal consultation.

What is "barrier function?"

Barrier function concerns the operation of the protective lipid network on the outermost layer of your skin. If the barrier is functioning properly, it keeps moisture in and toxins out.  If it's impaired, your skin can become dehydrated, and it can lead to a host of other problems. You can't see barrier function — but a thorough SkinScience SkinBio can measure it.

What is "sebum level?"

Sebum is the technical term for your skin's natural oil. Sebum level therefore refers to the oil output of your sebaceous glands.

Why is it important to get a SkinScience SkinBio?

A SkinScience SkinBio eliminates the guesswork from your personal skincare program.  It enables us to be more precise with the active ingredients that are in your specific products. It also serves as the basis for your overall skincare strategy — including custom facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasions, intense pulse light treatments, laser treatments, Botox®, fillers and other state-of-the-art procedures offered at our facility.

Finally, it allows us to track your progress when you use SkinScience products and services, so we can continue to monitor and modify your strategy as your results are achieved.

Do I need to commit to purchasing skincare products or services when I get my SkinScience SkinBio done?

Your personal SkinBio is compiled as a guideline to help you understand your skin's needs, and to assist you in choosing a program of skin care — but there is absolutely no obligation to purchase any product or procedure offered by our spa.

What does a Certified SkinScience Analyst do?

The SkinBio begins with a full, confidential consultation covering your skin concerns, past skincare experience and other pertinent topics. The analyst then takes two high resolution clinical photos using visible light and ultra-violet light. After reviewing the photographs with you, your analyst uses state-of-the-art equipment to take a series of SkinBiometric measurements of your skin. After collecting the information, the Certified SkinScience Analyst will discuss the SkinBiometric data and begin to prescribe a dedicated skincare strategy for you. Most of the time, your analyst will then provide a "jumpstart" facial that has been customized for you. Then we will recommend future services and products that are right for you.

Why do I need to get a SkinScience SkinBio every 3 months?

When used properly, your products can effect real changes in your skin — and as your skin responds to the active ingredients in these products, we will change your personal skincare strategy to reflect the progress of your skincare program. We like to take a look at the skin to see improvements and needed changes.

What happens when I use up my products?

The products are measured to last you about 3 months. When your supplies are getting low, you can make another appointment to update your SkinScience SkinBio. We can make any necessary changes at that time.

How can getting a SkinScience SkinBio help me with other procedures and treatments like photofacials, microlaserpeels, microdermabrasions, Botox injections, etc.?

After we complete the SkinScience SkinBio, we develop a fully customized strategy for you. Beginning with your customized facial, we get your skin in optimal condition to accept more advanced procedures — and we advise you each step of the way on which procedures will best meet your needs, as well as the ways in which you can prepare your skin for the next phase of your personalized program.

Does the SkinScience process involve any injections or surgical procedures?

Not at all. The SkinScience process is a method of collecting and analyzing information about your skin; information that helps you make informed choices on injectables, peels and many other procedures — most of which are available on premise at SkinScience.

What other kinds of services are available at SkinScience?

SkinScience is a full-service spa that offers facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, massage, spray tanning, body treatments, and waxing. In addition, Dr. Krever is available to perform such procedures as laser resurfacing and IPL (intense pulsed light), hair removal, vein treatments, acne treatments — as well as Botox and other injectable fillers and more.

How can I arrange an appointment for my own personal SkinScience SkinBio?
