Although often attributed to the innate aging process, the appearance of irregular pigmentation, laxity, lines and wrinkles as well as certain types of skin redness can actually be the result of cumulative exposure to the sun’s rays. UVA and UVB rays represent significant stressors to the skin, especially lighter skin types, and over the years result in unwanted changes in the skin quality and appearance as well as the development of precancerous and cancerous conditions. Sun damage is not limited to those individuals with histories of deliberate sunning or tanning practices and is often associated with simple daily exposure to normal levels of sunlight. |
